Schedule

8:00 - 8:50 -- Pick up information packet and syllabus CD (if ordered), view information in the gymnasium

9:00 - 9:50 -- Opening session with Keynote Address by artist and educator

Dr. Joan Gaither

Honoring Humanity:  Sharing Our Collective Legacy

"I'm still discovering my story.  What is your story?

What are our collective stories?  We honor our past by

discovering that story that needs telling that only you can tell."

Dr. Gaither is well known for her artistic and story-telling abilities as a Documentary Story Quilter, including many quilts that honor and preserve her own family heritage.   She is a master at weaving stories with words and with thread, and she teaches and inspires young and old alike.

"My work today as an artist/educator follows several interrelated strands and ideas that have emerged from my long commitment to the education of children.  As a teacher helps students to see through a plethora of commercial images in order to verbalize goals, understand processes, meet responsibilities, and be accountable for their actions, educators help students to find their personal voice for 'making special' while creating meaningful experiences and developing a world view.'"

10:00 - 3:00  Six 50-minute classes are offered. Register for your choices below.
